As of the time of writing, there is no official announcement of the election results. However, the StechiteGist Media reported that voting had ended in some polling units in Bayelsa State, and INEC will declare the winner.

The New Humanitarian reported on the 1999 Bayelsa election results, where Chief Diepree Alamieyesieghe of the PDP was declared the winner of the election. However, this is not relevant to the current election. The Bayelsa State Governorship Election is one of the off-cycle governorship elections in Nigeria, which means that it is not held during the general elections.

The election provides a unique opportunity for a swift evaluation of the new government’s performance so far and offers a referendum on how citizens in the state respond to the leadership of the recently elected administration. The outcome of the election will significantly impact the political fortunes of the parties involved and lay the foundation for the upcoming general elections in 2027
