FakeUTME result: Mmesoma to undergo psychological counselling, tender apology

The committee appointed by Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo to probe allegations result falsification in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has completed its investigation.

The committee, led by Professor Nkemdili Nnonyelu, has filed its findings and recommendations in the matter of Mmesoma Ejikeme, who produced a fake UTME result.

The committee analysed the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) results and discovered that Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma’s actual UTME score is 249, as opposed to the fraudulent aggregate score of 362 reported by her. Significant differences in the registration number, date of birth, and examination centre name, among other violations, were discovered by the committee, confirming the falsification of the findings. Mmesoma admitting to using her phone to manipulate the phoney findings.

During the investigation, Mrs. Edu Uche, Principal of Anglican Girls’ Secondary School, and the Education Secretary of the Diocese of Nnewi (Anglican Communion) expressed their displeasure with Mmesoma’s behaviour.

suggestions: Based on the findings of the committee, the following suggestions have been made:

Mmesoma Ejikeme should promptly and unequivocally apologise in writing to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Anglican Girls Secondary School (Uruagu Nnew), and the Anambra State Government.

Mmesoma Ejikeme should seek psychological help and treatment to deal with the events that led to the forgery.

All prospective applicants for JAMB Admission must rigorously follow the examination body’s norms, methods, and procedures.

Appreciation: The committee expresses gratitude to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for their careful handling of the situation and for sharing valuable information regarding their interaction with the candidate. The committee thinks that exposing the facts as uncovered throughout the investigation will help erase negative attitudes, misconceptions, and deceptions about the case.

Finally, the committee expresses gratitude to Governor Charles Soludo for forming the group and placing trust in its members. The recommendations presented aim to correct the situation, ensure accountability, and protect the examination system’s integrity. Mmesoma Ejikeme is expected to follow the suggestions and take the appropriate steps to correct her conduct. The committee’s study serves as a reminder of the value of honesty, following guidelines, and understanding the implications of forgery in educational examinations.
