BREAKING: Osinachi Nwachukwu’s husband loses case in court

The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has dismissed a no case submission application by Peter Nwachukwu, the husband of the late gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu.

The application challenged the homicide and domestic violence-related suit filed against him by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.

Osinachi Nwachukwu passed away on April 8, 2022, with allegations from colleagues in the music industry suggesting she was maltreated by her husband, Peter Nwachukwu.

Following her death, the Nigeria Police arrested Peter Nwachukwu and the case was later handed over to the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation for prosecution.

The trial commenced on June 20, 2022, with the prosecution presenting 17 witnesses. The prosecution closed its case on March 10, 2023. Peter Nwachukwu’s lawyer filed a no case submission, claiming that the evidence presented exonerated his client from the charge of culpable homicide.
However, the court ruled that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against the defendant and ordered him to enter his defence.

The case has been adjourned to November 22 and 23 for the defence to present their case.
