BREAKING: We will not allow Wike to join our party – APC declares

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has levelled allegations against the state’s immediate former governor, Nyesom Wike, claiming that he terrorised the party for eight years.

Darlington Nwauju, the party’s Publicity Secretary, announced in a statement that Wike would not be permitted to join the party due to the alleged chaos he wrecked on it.

Nwauju called Wike an adversary and claimed that his activities as governor throughout his eight-year tenure were enough to bar him from membership in the Rivers State APC. The statement emphasised that inviting Wike to join the party would be like encouraging an enemy to harm his victims even more.

Furthermore, the statement alluded to Wike’s claimed attempts to dodge justice in connection with the misuse of public monies, as well as his alleged efforts to curry favour with top APC members. The APC expressed scepticism about Wike’s intentions and reminded the public that a non-APC member could not campaign for Wike’s admission to the party.

It is worth mentioning that, despite being a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wike openly campaigned for President Bola Tinubu, a member of the APC, during the previous presidential election. Wike had switched his support from the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to Tinubu.

The Rivers State APC statement represents the party’s current stance towards Wike and emphasises its fears about his prospective association with their ranks.
