BREAKING: Kano Tribunal judges settles for virtual ruling, shun physical court appearance

On Wednesday, the Judges presiding over the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal declined to attend the court in person.

STECHITEGIST Media reported that today, the tribunal is set to announce its verdict on a petition brought forward by the All Progressives Congress (APC), challenging Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s victory from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Access to the courtroom was restricted for journalists, lawyers, party members, and others.

At the beginning of the proceedings before 10 AM, Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay, the Chair of the three-member panel, addressed the court through a Zoom call.

As reported by Daily Trust, the Secretariat confirmed that the judgment would not be broadcasted live, and the limited journalists allowed in the courtroom were prohibited from using smartphones or cameras.

Earlier, key security officials stated they were unaware of the judges’ whereabouts, leaving the possibility of a virtual proceeding open.
