What To Expect In Squid Game season 2, Release Date, New Series and Casts

The September 2021 release of Squid Game was an international box office and critical success.

Excited viewers can look forward to seeing familiar faces and new additions to the cast in season two of the critically acclaimed series.

Lee Jung-jae, who plays the primary character Gi-hun, is one among those who has returned, and he is hellbent on exacting revenge on those guilty for the competition.

Read on to learn who else has signed on and when the next season will be available.

The second season of Squid Game has been delayed

Season two of Squid Game has not been scheduled for distribution as of yet, and the new material was simply read at a table in June of 2023.

Production and filming for Season 2 will begin in 2023, with a premiere date in 2024 at the earliest.

Given that the first season was 12 years in the making from the time it was an idea in writer-director Hwang Dong-hyuk’s head, perhaps we should be grateful nonetheless.

Unlike the first season, however, we know that Hwang will not helm each episode of the second.

How do I get access to it?

After its initial run of success on Netflix, Squid Game is coming back for a second season.

When making their announcement, the streaming giant posted a trailer that focused in on the red-light green-light doll’s face.

Then they received a message from Hwang to follow up.

Season one’s creative team has confirmed that production on season two will begin soon.

Do we know who will be returning for Squid Game Season 2?

It’s not surprising that so many main characters died or were killed off in the first season, considering how things went.

But Lee Byung-Hun’s Hwang In-ho, Wi Ha-jun’s Hwang Jun-ho, and Gong Yoo’s Salesman will all be back alongside Gi-hun.

Yim Si-Wan, Kang Ha-Neul, Park Sung-Hoon, and Yang Dong-Geun were among the early additions to the cast roster.

As previously reported, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Won Ji-an, and Lee David have all joined the cast.

What to Expect

Oh Yeong-su’s character, Oh Il-nam, was the mastermind all along, and the first season ended with Gi-hun refusing to spend his prize money.

When Gi-hun witnesses The Salesman enlisting a replacement player after Il-nam’s death, he knows that the game has not ended.

He abandons his daughter at the airport and storms out, swearing he would never play again.

There will be some similarities between Season 2 and Season 1, but with a larger budget and new games, Season 2 should not be dull.
