Amos Dangut appointed as New WAEC Head of National Office

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has designated Dr. Amos Dangut as its fresh Head of National Office (HNO). Prior to this role, he served as the Deputy Registrar of the HNO’s office.

This appointment follows the conclusion of Mr. Patrick Areghan’s tenure, the outgoing HNO.

The official announcement of this appointment was made by Mrs. Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, in a statement released to the media on Monday in Lagos.

Mr. Patrick Areghan, who completed his tenure on October 1, assumed the position of HNO on March 5, 2020.

Dr. Dangut commenced his journey at WAEC in 1998 as an Assistant Registrar (AR) II and progressively ascended the ranks to become a Deputy Registrar in April 2018.

During the period from 2000 to 2006, he received commendation from the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) for the transparent conduct of examinations.

Dr. Dangut served in various roles such as Assistant Registrar/Subject Officer of Examinations Security, Deputy to the branch Controller in Uyo office, Senior Assistant Registrar/Head of Examinations Security, and Deputy to the branch Controller in Bauchi office.

In his 25 years of service, Dr. Dangut effectively utilized Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to revolutionize processes in Test Development, Test Administration, and Post Test Activities. Additionally, he is a recognized scholar with multiple educational publications in international and national journals, along with delivering numerous keynotes and other papers at both international and national conferences.

Dr. Dangut is an active member of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) and the Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM).
